The Questers, Incorporated, a nonprofit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization, was founded January 2, 1962 by Mrs. Dorothy B. Smith. The mission of The Questers is to promote benevolent, civic, cultural, and educational interest in the community. The organization is comprised of twenty-one business and professional women in the District of Columbia and vicinity who are dedicated to serving the public.
For over Fifty-years, The Questers, Inc. have given volunteer service to a number of community organizations such as nursing homes, group homes for girls and women, needy families, and boarder babies.
The organization has lifetime memberships with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the National Council of Negro Women “Wall of Donors” (NCNWWD), and the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA. Currently, major monetary donations are contributed to the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, and a four-year college scholarship is given to a graduating high school student who has been accepted into a college or university of their choice. The organization has also supported the Howard University Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research. The Questers, Inc. gives volunteer service to a number of community based organizations, such as nursing homes, group homes for girls and women, needy families, boarder babies, and senior citizens’ homes. To date, charitable contributions total over $500,000.00.
The goal of The Questers is to strengthen and support children’s institutions and organizations that provide for the well being of all Americans.
